Teaching at the Heart of Our Care Mission
Dear patients,
LaSalle Hospital is a teaching center affiliated with McGill University, the University of Montreal, and the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières. It also works with several CEGEPs.
You chose our team for the quality and safety of the care we provide. Our approach places patients and their families at the center of every intervention.
We are proud of this approach. We also want to pass it on to future generations of physicians, midwives, and nurses.
Our teaching mission is very important to us, and your support is greatly appreciated. During your stay, students and residents may participate in your care. These learners may be studying medicine, midwifery, or nursing.
A learner may accompany your physician. Your nurse may also be accompanied by a nursing student. As a general rule, only one learner accompanies each healthcare professional.
Learners always remain under the close and continuous supervision of the responsible healthcare professionals. You will be consulted before they participate in your care. You may also decline their presence if it makes you uncomfortable.
We understand that this situation may raise concerns for some patients. Our team will do everything possible to make the experience reassuring and valuable for you and your family.
Please discuss any questions or special circumstances with your physician. They will be able to provide information and address your concerns.
