Affiliated teaching center policy
Dear patients,
LaSalle is a teaching hospital affiliated to McGill University, Université de Montréal, Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and a few CEGEP. You probably chose us for our safe, high quality care centered on the patient and the family. We are very proud of our natural approach to obstetrical care and we wish to teach it to the next generations of doctors, midwives and nurses.
Our teaching mission is very important to us and we would greatly appreciate your support. While with us, you could be attended by medical students, and midwifery students as well as by nursing students. They, one medical or midwifery trainee per patient, could accompany your doctor. Your nurse will also occasionally be accompanied by a nursing student. Rest assured that all students and residents will be under constant and close supervision. Your care givers will be either men or women.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause to some of you but you have our assurance that everything possible will be done to keep this experience enriching for you and your family. If you have any concerns or special considerations concerning our teaching mission, please discuss them with your doctor. He or she will be happy to answer all your questions and fears you may have.
